Hubby has been on a kick to find a really good burger place in Austin so one of our neighbors offered to take us to Hop Doddy. He told us we need to get there before they open because there’s always a line. I laughed and said ok, but let me tell you on a Monday and 15 minutes before they opened there’s a line and it only gets longer once they open. I never imagined I would wait in 30 degree weather outside for a burger, but I can check that off my list now!
Once you are allowed in you stand in line and place your order then they assign you table. I have to say this is a well oiled machine of a place, customer service was fantastic and you never feel rushed, except for the hungry eyes staring at you for the line outside.
There’s not really a kid menu, but they will make you a grilled cheese sandwich if you ask for it which is not on the menu.
I felt like a fatty with as much food as we ordered, but we had to try a variety since we didn’t know when we could get back here. We started with the Green Chili Queso which comes with fries to dip in it. OMG so good. I love a good thick queso. If I could order a gallon to go I would probably eat it with every meal if I could.
Because one batch of fries isn’t enough, we ordered the Truffle fries which come with a truffle aioli to dip in. (Don’t judge we where sharing!) These are also really good and worth ordering!
D ordered the Goodnight Burger ($1 is donated to a local charitable organization
Angus Beef, Tillamook Cheddar, Hickory BBQ Sauce, Caramelized Onions,
Sliced Jalapeno, Hickory BBQ, Sassy Sauce) He loved this burger and the flavor was really great from the bite I tried.
I ordered the Prime Time Burger (Texas Akaushi Beef, Brie Cheese, Truffle Aioli, Arugula, Caramelized Onions, Steak Sauce). I really enjoyed this burger. The onions are perfectly caramelized and I love the added brie with a hint of truffle flavor such a great combo!
They also serve a good selection of craft beers, but be warned they come in a giant fish bowl glass like you should be having a margarita in.
We also shared a Nutella and Chocolate Pretzel Shake which is really really good!
I didn’t get the individual prices, I’ll have to take a picture of the menu next time we go, but our bill quickly added up to $54.94, but trust me it’s worth every penny!
