Katy has a new little gem that opened it’s doors last year, a winery called The Cellar Door. We’ve been several times with friends and I have to say I really enjoy the vibe in this place. You can get a 3 tastings for $3, purchase by the glass or by the bottle. If you don’t have time to stay there and drink you can pick up bottles to go as well. I really like that they make their own wine and the prices are really reasonable. You can sit at tables or they have several lounge areas with comfortable couches and chairs. There’s even a smoking room if you want to enjoy a cigar.
This past time we went we tried out some of the food they offer with a Groupon offer we got. Now while they don’t make the food themselves it is provided by Amazen Chef Creations, so I want to be clear about that.
We ordered the Grilled Beef Tenderloin $9.95 (Pico de Gallo, Cotija Cheese, Spanish Rice, Cilantro Sauce, & Plantain Chips) I had been excited to try this, but when it came out I was disappointed it was only 3 pieces of meat. Overall the dish tasted good, I just wouldn’t order it again because I don’t feel you get your monies worth from it.
Next we got the Chicken and Pesto Flat Bread Pizza. (I forgot what the price was I think it was also around $9.) This was more filling so I highly recommend ordering this one if you are getting food.
We also ordered both desserts. The Créme Brulee $5.95 (with Whipped Cream and Seasonal Berries) was by far the best thing we ordered. You got a large bowl of it too which I was surprised by when it came out. Really good!
The Chocolate Truffles $5.95 (with Hazelnut Laced Chocolate) was also really good.
If I order the food again I’ll stick with the flat bread and the crème brulee otherwise the other dishes seemed a little over priced for the amount you got. I think the prices have to do with them outsourcing the food, but if they continue to grow I hope they are able to expand the menu and bring in their own team of chefs.
